Minutes:  April  27, 2004

 

In attendance:   Rev. Carole McGowan; Don Partridge; Don Noack, Patricia Riggins.

Unable to attend: Rev. Brian Taylor; Diane Butler; Rev. Gary Meade; Jim Tryon

 

Discussion and Actions taken:

1.      Discussion focused on our next steps relative to the profile. Overall focus is on keeping diocese members informed so they can make good decisions and not loose the information or thoughts that came out of the Days of Discernment. Actions:

A.     Create a mailing around the themes and comments we heard during the Days of Discernment. Need to turn this around in a couple of weeks.

B.     Don N. will start from his notes and Don P. and Patricia will add to it. General theme to be important elements we heard during the Days of Discernment.

C.     Strategy is to use this document when the profile goes public as a way of measuring how complete that document is.

D.     Not certain of the status about the status of other items for the newsletter.

2.      Discussed follow up with Discernment Committee re next steps on profile. Action: PJR will contact Colin Kelly to explore the interest of jointly taking the draft of the profile into the diocese.

3.      Incorporation papers have been signed. Need to get them to the folks who will set up the checking account. Action: PJR will follow up with Diane.

4.      Questions about the status of the listserv and if problems still exist etc.

5.      Carole and Don N. discussed taking VMRG out into the diocese. Action: they will work on an agenda and proposal. PS. Would this be something to review/discuss at retreat?

6.     Re: Retreat:  PLEASE RESPOND TO ALL ABOUT DATE, TIME AND AGENDA.

A.     Proposed Date:  Saturday June 12, 2004

B.     Proposed Time:  9:00 to 1:00

C.     Proposed Location:  It was suggested that we meet not at one our parishes. That could be difficult. Need some thoughts.

D.     Requested events: Eucharist and sharing a meal

E.      Proposed Agenda

1.      Short term strategies and actions that continue to relate to the election of a new Bishop

2.      Long term strategies and actions that continue to work for the health of the diocese

3.      The organizational structure and resources needed to accomplish the two strategies above.
